Ever since I was a kid and watched my dad play drums with his band, I always wanted to play the drums. I bought my first drum set, with a bonus check I got from work, when I was 33. Yes that’s right, 33... I went with an electric Yamaha DTM Express III and absolutely loved the kit. My dad went with me to pick it out from a Sam Ash store on the other side of town. Picking out that set was the last time I ever got to see my dad play drums. I have since also purchased a Pearl accoustic set so that I have the best of both worlds. As for me, I really sucked and pretty much still do! Since I had already taught myself gutair, but never really got into it, I knew that lessons were the only way that I would be able to really learn. Now to find an instructor…
     Since Columbus Percussion is the only real drum store in Columbus (no, I am not on the payroll), I typed in their website to see if they taught lessons. I flipped through the pages of their instructors bios and found that the only one that really interested me was Jeff Robert. What caught my attention was that he was the only one that seemed to teach what I wanted to play; kick ass rock. Luckily, Jeff had an open slot and I started taking lessons in June of 2005. Not only is Jeff a good instructor, but he is one of the nicest guys around. You can catch him play with Movin to Boise around Columbus.
     So, at the time of this writing I have been playing for about 2.5 years. I practice for at least an hour nearly every day and I am very happy with my progression over this time. There is only one thing that I have yet to do; actually play with a band. I kick major ass in my garage, though.
     With my spare time I work as a network engineer for a very large insurance company.
